Strategies

Blue-green

Two identical environments; deploy to the idle one (green), test, then switch traffic. Rollback is a switch back. Needs double capacity briefly.

Canary

Release to a small percentage of users first, watch metrics, then expand. Limits blast radius.

Rolling

Update instances in batches while the rest keep serving. No extra environment, but mixed versions run for a while.

In-place

Update the existing servers directly. Simplest, but causes downtime and slower rollback.
