1.11 Identify evolving technologies in the cloud.
Clouds offer ready-made AI and IoT services. They speed up projects but bring new data flows and devices to secure.
Machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI)
- Text recognition
- Extracting text from images and documents (OCR).
- Text translation
- Automatic translation between languages.
- Visual recognition
- Identifying objects, faces or scenes in images and video.
- Sentiment analysis
- Detecting tone or opinion in text, such as customer feedback.
- Voice-to-text
- Transcribing speech into text.
- Text-to-voice
- Generating natural speech from text.
- Generative AI
- Managed foundation models that generate text, images and code. Review data handling and access controls before sending sensitive data.
Internet of Things (IoT)
- Sensors
- Devices that measure the physical world (temperature, motion) and send data to the cloud.
- Gateways
- Edge devices that collect sensor data, translate protocols and forward it securely.
- Communication
- How devices connect: Wi-Fi, cellular, LoRaWAN, Bluetooth, Zigbee.
- Transmission protocols
- Lightweight messaging protocols such as MQTT, CoAP and AMQP; secure them with TLS and device certificates.
