1.2 Explain collaboration and communication activities.
Good testers communicate throughout the engagement, not only in the final report. Clients need to understand risk in business terms.
Activities
- Peer review
- Another tester checks findings and the report for accuracy before delivery.
- Stakeholder alignment
- Agreeing goals, expectations and communication with the people who own the systems and the risk.
- Root cause analysis
- Explaining why a weakness exists (process, design, missing control), not just where.
- Escalation path
- The defined chain of contacts for urgent issues during testing.
- Secure distribution
- Delivering reports and evidence through encrypted, access-controlled channels.
- Articulation of risk, severity, and impact
- Describing findings in terms the business understands: what could happen, how likely, and what it costs.
- Goal reprioritization
- Adjusting focus mid-engagement when findings or client needs change, within the agreed scope.
- Business impact analysis
- Relating findings to the processes and assets that matter most to the business.
- Client acceptance
- Formal sign-off that the client has received and accepted the deliverables.
